How to install Zend Debugger 5.2.x on Debian 5

  1. Download the latest Zend Debugger source files.
    1. Visit the Zend Studio Downloads page:
      http://www.zend.com/en/products/studio/downloads
    2. Click the tar.gz link for the Studio Web Debugger for your architecture (32 or 64 bit).
    3. Login or Register for an account and the download should start imediately.
  2. Extract the Zend Debugger download.
  3. Copy the module file into the php modules directory.
    cp ZendDebugger-*-linux-glibc23-x86_*/5_2_x_comp/ZendDebugger.so /usr/lib/php5/20060613/
  4. Copy the dummy.php file to your http root.
    cp ZendDebugger-*-linux-glibc23-x86_*/dummy.php /var/www
  5. Create the /etc/php5/conf.d/ZendDebugger.ini PHP configuration file with the following content:
    ; Enable Zend Debugger extension module
    zend_extension=/usr/lib/php5/20060613/ZendDebugger.so

    [zend_debugger]
    zend_debugger.allow_hosts = 127.0.0.1
    zend_debugger.expose_remotely = always
  6. Restart Apache.
    /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

How to test the Zend Debugger 5.2.x on Debian 5

  1. Visit localhost/phpinfo in your local web browser.
  2. Search for the following text:
    with Zend Debugger

NOTE: If the text cannot be found, the Zend Debugger has not been installed correctly.

How to configure Zend Debugger 5.2.x in Eclipse PDT 2.2

  1. Open Eclipse.
  2. Select the Window > Preferences menu option.
  3. Select the PHP > Debug > Installed Debuggers left menu option.
  4. Select the Zend Debugger debugger.
  5. Click Configure.
  6. Set the Client Host/IP field to 127.0.0.1.
  7. Click OK
  8. Click OK
